I’ve been so busy watching the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games coverage on NBC. I think the 2008 Olympics is the most watched in history with coverage spanning live from China through different mediums.
Wikipedia noted that
American broadcaster NBC produced only 2 hours of online streaming video for the 2006 winter games but produced approximately 2,200 hours of coverage for the 2008 summer games.
Also this Olympics has the best photography coverage than ever before. Because of the exponential technology growth such as high ISO, high mega pixels and super fast shutter speeds photographers can now take amazing journalistic pictures.

Let me add one more thing: Journalism companies are also spending mad loads of money on equipment and all. I remember seeing people rig a whole BBall stadium with pocket wizards/strobes. I mean this is stuff no single guy can afford. But it sure helps out in the long run to get the killer shots that will sell.
I wish I went to the Olympics to shoot. I wonder how much photogs make doing that stuff?
